Prof. Dr. Kundu Yangzom

Dr. Kundu Yangzom is a distinguished senior Obstetrician and Gynecologist with over three decades of leadership, clinical excellence, and academic contribution in women’s health in Nepal. She served for many years at Patan Hospital and Patan Academy of Health Sciences, including as Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Professor, and Medical Director, playing a pivotal role in strengthening maternal and reproductive health services. An AIIMS New Delhi graduate, Dr. Yangzom completed her postgraduate training in Nepal and pursued advanced international fellowships and certifications in urogenital fistula surgery, advanced obstetric life support, ultrasound, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, and reproductive health. She is nationally recognized as a regional expert in genito-urinary fistula management and has contributed extensively to programs on maternal health, infertility, genital prolapse, and cervical cancer screening. A recipient of the Young Gynaecologist Award (AOFOG) and multiple national honors, Dr. Yangzom is a life member of leading professional bodies and a board member of prominent health institutions in Nepal. Her career reflects a deep commitment to clinical care, medical education, capacity building, and public health advocacy, making her one of the most respected figures in obstetrics and gynecology in the country.
